Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ireti Kingibe, says the Minister of the Territory, Nyesom Wike, needs time to study the dynamics of the city before issuing demolition threats.
Senator Kingibe, who stated this on Wednesday during a chat with newsmen in Abuja, had been asked to comment on the demolition threats issued by Wike on his first day in office.
The Senator said the minister is supposed to administer the FCT in collaboration with the national assembly and president because he does not have executive powers.
While agreeing that some structures on waterways and floodplains need to go, Kingibe advised Wike to look at the issues holistically, and expressed the hope that her interests and Wikes align for the good of FCT residents.
